Incarceration

Her scent polluted the air.
Her eyes seemed to surround him.
He covered the mirrors for when he saw himself,
he heard her laugh.
The afternoon beyond the sealed blinds knew not that he needed silence;
and the sun knew not that he needed rain.
He prayed wordlessly
for his release.
