Defence

Her many faults were littered with privilege;

Unstable,
but well-balanced.

Her darkness
put to shame
by a sequined masquerade smile

She self-destructed with a brilliant light
leaving shards of herself strewn
to impale the soles
of any who offered help.

Her heart protected by a brain scared to live.
